About Us

Our present day status as a world-class library supplier is rooted in the history of its two founding companies - James Askew & Son Ltd and The Holt Jackson Book Co Ltd.

Askews, founded in 1872 and The Holt Jackson Book Co Ltd in 1932 have independently witnessed fascinating social change, including the rise in literacy, the development of the print and publishing industry and the establishment of public libraries, to cater for the population's ever-growing appetite for reading and embracement of new technology.

On 1st March 2011, the two companies, already part of The Little Group, which also has the UK's leading Book and AV wholesaler Gardners within it's stable, merged to form the U.K.'s premier library supplier.

Operating from Lancashire premises, in Preston City Centre, Askews are an innovative, dynamic and focused supplier, whose sole objective is to provide a range of services that will ensure customers continue to meet and exceed their library users' expectations.

The company provides a wide range of solutions to Public and School Libraries and other businesses both in the U.K. and overseas, including shelf ready processing, supplier selection services, bibliographic content, multi-media material, eBooks, promotional support and market leading web technology.

Providing the highest standard of customer satisfaction is the number one priority for Askews and we believe our continued success originates from a dedication to developing, with stakeholders, a range of innovative and cost effective solutions, without compromising our commitment to quality.
