Terms, Conditions & Discounts
Askews Terms and Conditions of Business for non-contracted customers:
1. General
Askews is prepared to supply the customer with books and goods on the basis of its terms and conditions as set out below.
2. Orders and Delivery
Orders can be placed via our website, post, EDI and Email 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We endeavour only to feature titles that are currently in print, however please accept that titles can go out of print and become unavailable without prior warning. The inclusion of a title found whilst searching our online database does not constitute a recommendation. Any titles not immediately available for despatch are automatically held on backorder.
Deliveries will be made Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.30 am to 5.00 pm.
3. Discounts & Pricing
If you are a new customer, please contact our Customer Care Team for details of our standard discounts or discuss details of enhanced levels of discount. In addition to mainstream publishers, this website also features independent/educational/academic publications from non-mainstream publishers, which are subject to a lower discount. The discount shown is for illustration only. Customers wishing to determine and exact discount for these items should contact Customer Care Team prior to ordering.
Care has been taken to ensure book prices are current at the time of supply, however we regret that some price increases may occur. All books will be invoiced at current prices. Prices shown are for the supply of goods to customers based in the UK and for delivery within the UK. In the event that an item is eligible to be charged VAT, the price will be shown inclusive of VAT, although will not be identified as such on the site. All VAT will be shown separately on the invoice.
4. Payment
Payment for goods must be made within 30 days of the invoice date unless agreed otherwise. Thereafter (without prejudice to any remedies available to Askews) interest on payments due will accrue at the rate of 4% per annum over the Lloyds Bank Plc base rate from time to time until payment is received in full from the Customer. Notwithstanding above payment for all orders shall become due immediately in the event that the Customer adjudged bankrupt or insolvent, has a receiver or administrator appointed over its assets or enters into any composition with its creditors. Any goods purchased shall remain the property of Askews until full payment has been received.
All sums payable to Askews shall be paid legally free and clear of all deductions and withholdings but if a deduction or withholding is legally required to be made, the payer shall pay the payee the sum which after such deduction or withholding results in a net payment to the payee equal to the amount due from the original invoice.
If any sum payable to Askews is subject to Tax in the hands of the payee then the payer shall pay to the payee such additional sum which will, after such Tax, leave the payee with the same sum as the payee would have received in the absence of such Tax.
Please send payment and remittance advice to our Accounts Department at Askews.
